Edward de Bono is a well renowned author in the field of creative thinking and is the best selling author of Lateral Thinking and Six Thinking Hats. I have attended a Six Thinking Hats course and found it to be very intriging and interesting. So when I saw this book on sale, I bought it without any hestitation.

In this book, Edward de Bono aims to create a culture in the world to have positive thinking and to do good deeds. H+ stands for Human, Happiness, Humour, Help, Hope and Health. In each section, these 6 elements are elaborated.

It is emphasized that most religions focus on the negative aspects, ie avoiding sins and what we should not do. In H+, the emphasis is entirely on the positive actions. It is a way of life and he termed it as « woligion » to cover « a way of life religion ». He also coins the term « pons » which are positive actions.

He has set up a « HQ » on this project and hopes to have similar like-minded people forming groups to help others and have a positive impact to the world. He has also set up helpdesks, recommending fines for those who do not do enough pons, signals which indicate that you are within this H+ community.

This book is one of the easiest book to read. Only 93 pages and each page has only about 100words. Edward de Bono goes straight to the point and his intention is really good for the world. The only minor concern I see is that some people will feel that he is indeed trying to form some sort of a cult globally through this book. Overall, I feel good reading this book.

Whether you have a lot space or hardly any, here’s some entertaining elements to consider for your last outdoor summer party.

Think Environment

Do you want it dark and moody or bright and vibrant? String Christmas lights around the outline of a balcony or place floating candles on every table. Litter table tops or serving trays with flower pedals.

Use What You Already Have

Re-using old items can be very satisfying. Turn large, everyday plates into serving trays and small, fine china saucers into hors d’oeuvre plates. Tall, plastic cup-ware can be turned into individual flower vases at each place setting.

Creative Food

Add a new twist to old burgers by using Portebello Mushrooms instead. Offer a variety of mustards and even salad dressings for your guests to add or dip. Grill onions instead of serving them raw.

Remember The Fun

Offer a large supply of adult and kid-sized water pistols for plenty of excitement. Or mix music and a limbo stick for an adventurous competition.

Still not sure what kind of party you’d like to throw? Try one of these themes:

Water Party

Required: plastic pool or large buckets full of ice and drinks; flip-flops for everyone; water balloons; bathing suits; plenty of water for splashing; adult and kid pools for wading.

Wine Tasting Party

What you will need: three white and three red wines; complimentary cheeses; loaf of bread for cleansing pallets; pitcher of water; dump bucket for discarding wine before the next pouring; tasting cards for describing and recording each wine tasted; optional prize for a blind taste test winner.

Remember Safety

Before you fire up your alfresco big bash, do a quick construction check of your porch, deck or balcony. The International Code Council (ICC) suggests you look for loose, missing or rusted hardware; porches secured to buildings with nails rather than attached with anchors or bolts; splitting or rotted wood; and unstable porches – for starters.

Swimming pools with more than 24 inches of water need to have a four-foot fence around them. Gates must be self-closing and self-latching.

When grilling, keep away from siding, deck railings, eaves and branches. Remove old grease from gills and check propane hoses for any leaks. Don’t move grills while they are still hot and of course dispose of charcoal in its proper place.

Have a plan and have a party!

Look up building and fire codes on the ICC Web site.

The house of Praxedes

Woe is a prison with a jailer’s daughter who is blind…
She would have eyes golden like the setting sun
should one sun find her setting…

Valentinus you priest,
Goth as I be,
as towering an empty
as echoing a block
beaten and stoned is no way for a passage

keep them swatting at bees.
keep them smelling roses
and singing with birds…
I tremble like a holy roller
at the Flaminian Door…
as it is much the way a priest is to an emperor
you my dear priest it is closed for you
a mere conversion waiting
you must open it

Me the reason for your conversion
give up your silly pursuits of marriage rites and Christ

your head will be a stopper, keeping the gate ajar
for poor pocketed travelers and running away beggar thieves
i am Claudius II
and you are my Valentine

wii fail

Wii Sports is one of the most popular games on the Nintendo Wii, but playing the original Wii Sports or Wii Sports Resorts is sure to cause lots of accidents. Following are the most common accidents caused by playing Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort.

The Screen Smash

The wrist strap on your Wiimote was made for a reason – to have a perfect excuse to sling your Wiimote as fast as possible and crack your screen. The wildly flailing arms of a Wii Sports player are soon followed by their surprised face when they realize they just ruined a $3,000 HDTV. For some reason gamers believe wearing a wrist strap is just a stupid rule Nintendo cooked up, but thousands of Wiimote accidents have killed thousands of innocent televisions on the Wii Sports battle field. The Nintendo Wii combined with Wii Sports (and stupidity) has caused the greatest technology on technology crimes ever held against one device.

Friendly Fire

The Wii was designed to bring the entire household together – and beat the bloody snot out of them. Wii Sports games were designed to make sure people are only able to focus on the game being played and forget about the five family members that lay needing medical attention after they’ve been attacked by the Wii crazy gamer. The Nintendo Wii also doubles as a slap-stick comedy entertainment system and Wii Sports blackouts will leave the house looking like the scene of a ninja attack, because Wiimote accidents will lay everyone else to rest. Those flailing Wiimote arms are perfect combat devices for whacking your most loved ones over the head, sending them to the paramedics.

Harakiri

Harakiri is a form of Japanese ritual suicide done in order to save honor or as punishment for something dishonorable. The Nintendo Wii isn’t all serious « smerious » (like the art of the Samurai), but you’d think that most gamers were involved in an act of ritual (as in daily) suicide, when you find them playing Wii Sport Resort. The amount of clumsiness and accidents done to oneself hasn’t been seen in gaming since the invention of Dance Dance Revolution. Falling, bumping into objects, and whacking yourself over the head are far too common accidents experienced when playing Wii Sports on the Nintendo Wii.

The Godzilla Complex

When playing Wii Sports, the gamer takes on the role of Godzilla to their home’s Tokyo. There is just no Way to play this attention demanding game and focus on surrounding objects at the same time. Accidents are bound to happen as Wii Sports will make you smash ceiling fans, break tables, fall over seats, toss your Wiimote through the window and cause more accidents than an earthquake. The swinging arms of a mad Wii gamer is equal to that of a Tornado’s force that has swept through your house, leaving a trail of debris and accidents.

When playing the Nintendo Wii remember to focus on your surroundings and if playing Wii Sports, be sure to only kill the innocent by accident.

Fun par Rickydavid

If you have a family, you will love the adventure-packed center of amusements that is Orlando, Florida. Whether your loved ones are partial to the waterworks or theme parks; or if playing miniature golf or shopping in immense, jam-packed flea markets is their thing, you won’t miss a beat with an Orlando vacation.

Located in the center of Florida, Orlando is the sixth largest city in Florida, but its stature is quite large in the tourist arena. The area’s famous theme parks have brought in a phenomenal tourist business, drawing 52 million visitors a year!

Many vacation guides rate the Orlando theme parks as unrivaled in the realm of entertainment. Their scope certainly qualifies them as unique. Walt Disney World, alone, has over 200 square acres of courts and fields.

There’s very little you won’t be able to do, in Orlando. In addition to touring the character-studded theme parks, you can cater to almost every interest you’ve ever had! Do you love arts and crafts? You can make your very own teddy bear, at the Florida Mall! Or if you are feeling brave, you can float over the area in a hot air balloon.

Never been up close to a real cow, before? Try milking a cow at Green Meadows Petting Farm!

And after a day of revelry, when you’re ready to sit down and enjoy a sumptuously-prepared meal, there are dinner shows and nighttime attractions that follow a theme. Do you like pirates? Or how about magicians! You’ll find a corresponding theme.

Do you have a grass skirt? Bring one along to the Sea World Polynesian Feast and Celebration!

If you’re undecided about where to start, it might prove helpful to examine all the categories that are located in Orange County, Orlando. Here’s a break down: You’ll find: theme parks and attractions; boats and Eco-system tours; cruises (both day and extended); dinner theatre and entertainment; movie theatres; sightseeing tours; sporting events; and water parks.

The theme parks include Cypress Gardens, Discovery Cove, SeaWorld Orlando, Universal Orlando Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort.

Since water sports are such a huge part of many families’ Orlando vacation, a stop at Wet n’ Wild is sure to please! The famous Wet n’ Wild theme park – the granddaddy of all water parks – is located in the International Drive Resort Area. It’s recommended that you lather on the sunscreen (a minimum of Sun Protection Factor 30 is best), before taking to the water.

For a splashing good time, take the family on the “Flyer”, a four person bobsled run. (There’s also a mini version of all these rides, with rubberized surfaces and ever-vigilant lifeguards, for the little ones!) If your older kids want to splash around in an extra-size wave pool, they can rent tubes to float around in.

Want to just lie there and work on your tan? You can do that, too, in the “Lazy River” ride, which circles one side of the park at a very leisurely bob! Want a bit more water-action? The “Storm” will move you directly into some bumpy weather and guarantee you a dunking at the end of the ride!

Are you eager to check out some real animals? The astounding Edge of Africa, in the Busch Gardens Africa (also located on International Drive), features real hippopotami, hyenas, lions and baboons!

For an extra $20, the Serengeti Safari Tour will take you out to a habitat in the plains where you can see giraffes, zebras and rhinos, up close.

Ready to shop? Orlando boasts shopping as its favorite visitor pastime. The malls are opened long hours, seven days a week. The best buys are on sneakers, jeans, casual clothing and electronics. The Prime Outlets Store, at the north end of International Drive, has excellent factory outlets for savings galore. International Drive also has designer clothing stores with famous name labels. (And don’t forget the hundreds of flea markets nearby!)

If you and yours just can’t have enough of nature, the wildly popular Eco tours feature “Swim with the Dolphins”. It also has “The Florida Adventure Tour”, which takes you up the beautiful Crystal River. Another fun sport, “The Way Fun Kayak Adventure”, features travels through the untouched parts of Florida.

Then there’s “The Florida Water Safari”, a tour through 75 miles of the Ocala National Forest. Finally, the “Boggy Creek Air Boats” cruise on top of the water at speeds of up to 45 miles per hour, as you play peak-a-boo with Florida’s wildlife!

Make sure to leave extra travel time to get around the ever-crowded city of Orlando. If you intend to stay on International Drive, there’s a trolley service which costs just $1.00. It connects all the theme parks and shops, and runs every 15 minutes.

How many of you can remember back to old summers as a child? Did you ever use to play with an item known as a slip and slide? Slip and slides are just as popular today as they were in the past. If you are a parent and your child has never used a slip and slide before, what are you waiting for? A slip and slide is a fun outdoor toy for just about any child.

Most adults are familiar with a slip and slide, but not everyone is. A slip and slide is an activity toy that often spans a number of feet. Most slip and slides span at least fifteen feet in length. When attached to a garden hose, the slip and slide surface will become wet and slippery. The object is to slide down as fast as you can go. What is at the end of the slip and slide will all depend on what type of item you purchase.

If you are interested in purchasing a slip and slide, there are a number of locations where you can buy one from. Most individuals end up going to their closest department store, but there are a number of other places where you can purchase this fun toy from. What many individuals do not realize is there are a large number of slide styles that are not available in most retail stores.

To find the best selection of a slip and slides, you should consider shopping online. This is because most online retailers carry more items in their online store than they do in traditional retail stores. If you are a looking for a unique slip and slide, you may have better luck shopping online or specially ordering one.

The cheapest type of slip and slides you can find will be the most standard models. These are ones that just are usually just made up of a slide. A garden hose will make even the most standard models a lot of fun. For additional fun, there are slip and slides that have a miniature wading pool at the bottom. The slides are ideal for slip and slides that are used on a hill. The wading pools often prevent a child from being injured. Other fun slip and slide activities may include a basketball hoop or a soccer goal.

In addition to slip and slides with fun add-ons, there are also slip and slides that come in certain colors or have images of a popular cartoon character on it. Popular slip and slide cartoon characters include Sponge Bob Square Pants, Dora the Explorer, and more. These character slip and slides, as well as ones with small wading pools, are likely to increase the price of a standard slip and slide. Despite the small increase in price, most slip and slides are still easy to afford.

A common misconception concerning slip and slides is that they can only be used on a hill. It is true that slip and slides will work best on a hill, but when they are wet a slip and slide can be used just about anywhere. If your child is looking for a fun way to spend their summer, you should consider purchasing them a slip and slide. Don’t let you children spend too much time inside, especially when they can be having so much fun outside.
